Answer the following questions in complete sentences:

 

(i)                  How old is the earth?

Ans. The earth is millions and millions of years old.

(ii)                Describe the earth before man existed.

Ans. Before man existed the earth was different. Only animals roamed then and before the animals there was time when no kind of life existed on earth.

(iii)               Why was there no life on earth?

Ans. There was no life on earth because the earth was too hot for any living being to live on it.

          

         ACTIVITY: 2

i) Akbar, the great Mughal Emperor, reigned for forty-nine years.

ii) Anamika loves to have curd .

iii) Sania is too weak  to move out of doors.

iv) Do you like to watch the T.V. serials ?

v) The maid of our neighbourhood has made this beautiful vase.

Write a paragraph (in about 70 words) about your best friend. You may use the following points:

My Best Friend

Being a social animal, every human being has friends and amongst them a few are special. ............. is my best friend. He/she is large-hearted and good in his/her studies. We share everything in our life and he/she is the best because he/she stands by me through thick and thin. He/she likes to travel and reading books and dislikes dishonesty. He/she helps me not only in studies but also taking vital decisions. It is he/she who makes me grow interest in reading. In a nutshell he/she is my jewel, from whom I do not want to part with.
