The First Meeting Act 1
Macbeth & Banquo encounter the Three Witches, sparking the tragic spiral of ambition.
Macbeth's Prophecies:
- Thane of Glamis (His current title)
- Thane of Cawdor (Granted by King Duncan)
- King of Scotland (The ultimate temptation)
Banquo's Prophecy:
- His descendants will be kings of Scotland, though Banquo himself will not rule.
The Plan of Murder Act 2
Spurred by his own hubris and the calculated influence of Lady Macbeth, the treasonous plot is born.
⚔️ CRITICAL EVENT: Macbeth Murders King Duncan
The Royal Fallout Act 3 (Early)
Following the discovery of the King's death, chaos splits the court:
- Malcolm (The rightful heir) flees to England.
- Donalbain flees to Ireland to avoid suspected assassination.
- With the princes gone, Macbeth is crowned King.
Escalation of Blood Act 3 (Late)
To thwart the witches' prediction regarding Banquo's royal lineage, Macbeth hires assassins:
- Banquo is ambushed and killed.
- Fleance escapes into the night, keeping the prophecy alive.
The Second Meeting & Three Apparitions Acts 4 & 5
Desperate to protect his crown, Macbeth seeks out the witches once more. They conjure three distinct spirits with deceptive half-truths:
1. The Armed Head Spirit
Prophecy: "Be aware of Thane of Fife" — Explicitly warns Macbeth to watch out for Macduff.
2. The Bloody Child
Prophecy: "No fear of death from naturally born" — Assures him that no man born of a woman can kill him (creating a false sense of invincibility).
3. The Crowned Child holding a Tree
Prophecy: "Shall not be vanquished till Birnam Wood move up" — Declares he cannot be overthrown until Birnam Wood physically marches to Dunsinane Hill.
